100 Years Strong — Honouring Our Past, Celebrating Our Community & Looking to the Future!
One hundred years. Countless memories. Generations of friendship, service, remembrance, and community. Join us as Legion Branch 101 celebrates its 100th anniversary — an extraordinary milestone recognizing a full century of people coming together under the Legion banner.
A centennial is more than another anniversary. It’s an opportunity to look back at the people who built this Branch, remember those who came before us, celebrate everything the Branch means to its community today, and look forward to the generations who will carry its traditions into the future.
For 100 years, these walls have held stories. Now it’s time to celebrate them.
Think about how much can happen in a century.
Generations have come and gone. Communities have grown and changed. Traditions have been established, friendships have been formed, and countless memories have been made.
Through it all, Legion Branch 101 has remained a place where people can gather.
A place to remember.
A place to serve.
A place to celebrate.
And perhaps most importantly, a place to belong.
This centennial celebration recognizes everyone who has helped make that possible.
At the heart of the Royal Canadian Legion is a commitment to Remembrance.
For generations, Legion members have worked to ensure that the sacrifices of Canada’s Veterans and those who served are never forgotten.
That responsibility has been passed from one generation to the next.
As Branch 101 celebrates its centennial, we remember the Veterans, members, volunteers, families, and community supporters whose dedication helped establish and sustain the Branch.
Some names remain familiar.
Others may survive only in photographs, documents, plaques, stories, and memories passed between generations.
But each played a part in the history we celebrate today.
Their legacy is part of our story.
Buildings don’t create communities.
People do.
Over the past century, countless individuals have contributed their time, energy, talents, and friendship to Legion Branch 101.
They organized events.
They volunteered.
They served meals.
They worked behind the bar.
They joined committees.
They maintained the building.
They raised funds.
They welcomed newcomers.
They supported Veterans.
They attended Remembrance ceremonies.
They played cards, darts, pool, and countless other games.
They danced to live music, celebrated birthdays and anniversaries, attended dinners, shared stories, and occasionally stayed for just one more.
Together, those everyday moments became something much bigger.
They became 100 years of Branch 101 history.
Ask people what they remember most about their time at the Legion and the answer often isn’t a particular building or event.
It’s the people.
The friend you met decades ago.
The familiar face waiting at the bar.
The teammate who always showed up.
The volunteer who somehow knew everybody.
The stories that became funnier every time they were told.
The people who walked through the doors as strangers and eventually became friends.
That’s the kind of history that doesn’t always make it into an archive — but it’s every bit as important.
A century isn’t built one year at a time. It’s built one person, one friendship, and one memory at a time.
This milestone belongs not only to the members of Branch 101, but also to the wider community that has supported the Branch throughout its history.
Over the decades, Legion branches have become gathering places for far more than formal ceremonies.
They’re places where communities come together for:
And sometimes they’re simply the place where you know you’ll find someone to talk to.
A 100th anniversary gives us the rare opportunity to look in both directions.
We can look backward with gratitude at everything that brought us here.
And we can look forward with optimism toward everything still to come.
The world of today would be almost unimaginable to the people who gathered during the Branch’s earliest years.
Yet something remarkably simple has endured:
People still need places to come together.
Places where stories are shared.
Places where friendships are made.
Places where traditions continue.
Places where Veterans are remembered and supported.
Places where community still means something.
That is worth celebrating.
Reaching 100 years is an extraordinary achievement — but this isn’t only a celebration of the past.
It’s also the beginning of the next chapter.
New members will walk through the doors.
New friendships will begin.
New traditions will emerge alongside old ones.
There will be more music, more dinners, more games, more celebrations, more laughter, and undoubtedly many more stories.
Future generations will add their own chapters to the history that previous generations began.
And someday, people may look back at photographs from this centennial celebration and recognize us as part of that history.
Whether you’ve been part of Branch 101 for decades, recently became involved, have family connections to the Legion, or simply want to celebrate this remarkable milestone with your community, we invite you to be part of this special occasion.
Come reconnect with old friends.
Make some new ones.
Share your stories.
Remember those who came before us.
Celebrate the people who keep the Branch going today.
And raise a glass to an institution that has reached a milestone few organizations ever achieve.
One Branch. One Community. One Hundred Years of Memories.
Happy 100th Anniversary, Legion Branch 101.
100 YEARS STRONG — and here’s to the next century!
